Izzy's Ice Cream Reviews
Be sure to let me know what flavor(s) and special additions you chose. Again - feel free to leave as much explanation (or as little) as you like along with a score of 1(terrible) 5(fine) 10(terrific).
After my experience at Lynden's, the three flavors I decided on were Ginger, Salted Caramel, and Nut Goodie. I figured they were close enough to Jack O' Lantern Snap, Caramel Chaos, and Zumeo. Granted the last flavor is chocolate based and Nut Goodie is Maple based, but it was tastes of Addison's choice vs. and Izzy scoop - so the difference didn't really matter.
Taste: 9/10 The ginger was strongly flavored with fresh ginger. That zip and tang that you can't get anywhere else! The salted caramel made for a great contrast with just enough saltiness to play against the sweetness of the base flavors. The Nut Goodie was good but not great. The maple didn't stand up at all against the other two, but it was fine.
Texture: 10/10 Served at the perfect temperature to ensure enough body, but not too much work as I dug into my cup with gusto!
Presentation: 9/10 While I definitely go for the cup instead of the cone - I hate sticky fingers! - Addison's scoop of Midnight Snack looked picture perfect. My split single had two smooth scoops ringed by the Elizabethan fringe collar that you see in stickers and coloring book renditions of ice cream.
Creative: 10/10 There are probably 35 different flavors out at any one time and they make even the bland ones like Vanilla special by turning it in to a flavor called Cereal Milk for those of us who love to drink the milk out of the bottom of the bowl. Any one love the milk after Cinnamon Toast Crunch as much as I do? Doubtful.
Wild Card: 8/10 The Split single. At Izzy's I was able to get two flavors + an Izzy scoop in the single size. This is key in avoiding the craziness of Ice cream drunkenness and the requisite hangover!
