A bi-monthly head to head competition - two restaurants, one dish. Help me decide which should be the top dog in town! Every other Friday I'll post a new face off. Within the next two weeks, eat the same dish at one or both restaurants and post your reviews. Then I'll add up the results and announce the winner!

Papa's Reviews
Post your opinions about Papa's Cheesesteak here. Be sure you let me know about how you customized your order - plain, with cheese, with onions and peppers, or mushrooms, ketchup or no - I want to know how you ordered as well as what you thought! Again - feel free to leave as much explanation (or as little) as you like along with a score of 1(terrible) 5(fine) 10(terrific).

Taste: 9/10 Really flavorful beef - enough fat to taste, but not enough to be greasy. East coasters will regret the lack of cheese whiz, but I liked the provolone (?) or whatever it was.
ReplyDeleteTexture: 9/10 Great bun! Chewy enough to stand up to the meat and cheese. Thinly sliced beef stacked high, but not so much that I got messy trying to eat.
Presentation: 7/10 bun side up, pickle on the side with potato chips on the side in basket - ok but nothing that made me lick my lips.
Creative/Authentic: 7/10 the options a Philly shop offers aren't present, but the core of the sandwich is pretty darn authentic
Wild Card: 8/10 a great neighborhood patio meant I spent a lovely few hours with friends eating and enjoying the afternoon.
