Post your opinions about Red's Savoy Cheesesteak here. Be sure you let me know about how you customized your order - plain, with cheese, with onions and peppers, or mushrooms, ketchup or no - I want to know how you ordered as well as what you thought! Again - feel free to leave as much explanation (or as little) as you like along with a score of 1(terrible) 5(fine) 10(terrific).

  1. Taste: 10/10 Salty, spicy, fatty - I can't believe I liked this as much as I did. I got it with everything - cheese whiz included - and loved it. The vinegar from the pickled peppers cuts through the richness of the cheese and the fresh tomato and lettuce gave this sandwich a nice summer sweetness.

Texture: 7/10 The bun was not as chewy as Papa's, nor the meat as high quality. There was sort of a ground - instead of sliced - quality to it.

Presentation: 7/10 This one is all over the place! Huge, colorful, but messy. Usually sandwiches that look like this mean my hand are definitely going to get dirty! This one held up much better than I thought it would.

Creative/Authentic: 8/10 The options are here - cheese whiz or provolone, peppers or not, tomato or not - much like they are in Philly.
The shredded lettuce could be scrapped, but other than that it's fairly authentic.

Wild Card: 10/10 My last free Friday of the summer. This criteria might have much too much sway, but as a teacher the importance of this day can't be overestimated! It was warm, but not hot; breezy but not windy, and I was hungry but not starving.
